How fast and how far will climate change raise the water level in San Francisco Bay? Baykeeper’s new interactive graph provides answers based on the latest projections from the National Academy of Sciences.

The projections, released in a long-awaited report in June, establish likely rates of sea level rise over the 21st century. Baykeeper’s graph shows how these projections compare to sea levels in the Bay since the 1850s.

In the last century, sea levels have risen in San Francisco Bay, as measured at the Golden Gate Bridge, by about 8 inches. By 2100, sea levels here are projected to increase by about 36 inches under moderate projections.
