SUP COURSE DETAILS: SUPs launch from Pier 40 and paddle north under the Bay Bridge to the course turnaround point. Paddlers then head south to McCovey Cove. Paddlers will meet up with swimmers and boaters just outside of McCovey Cove, at which point everyone will proceed in order into the cove for the Bay Parade finale. This finale is filmed and broadcast on the Jumbotron at the start of Sunday's Giants' home game. Following the finale, paddlers return to Pier 40 to exit. Snacks and hot showers will be available nearby.
REGISTRATION & FUNDRAISING: Each paddler must fundraise a minimum of $75, in addition to their registration fee. You will receive an email with directions for setting up an online personal fundraising page. Paddlers who have not fundraised the minimum $75 by July 2 will be asked to make a gift covering the difference in order to participate in the parade. But trust us, raising $75 is very achievable!
BOARDS: Stand up paddleboards are included with registration. If you are bringing your own board, you must arrange transportation to and from Pier 40. If you end up wanting to use a provided board, you must contact us by July 2. Any board needs past that date will need to be arranged on your own.
COSTUMES & DECORATIONS: The Bay Parade is a celebration of a clean and healthy Bay, and costumes are encouraged! Love seals? Dress up like one! Have a purple wig? Throw it on! Paddlers will also be provided a Bay Parade flag to display on the water. Together, we will have a good time on the Bay, for the Bay.
GOLDEN RIVET AWARD: The Golden Rivet recognizes the fastest solo swimmer, fastest swim team, and biggest parade fundraiser from each year's Bay Parade. Paddlers are eligible to compete for the fundraising category. Winners' names are engraved on the Golden Rivet plaque. There will be other exciting prizes for all fundraising participants who reach certain fundraising targets.
PARTY: The Bay Parade Party takes place a short walk from the swim exit, hosted by Anchor Brewing at the Yard from 1:30 to 3:30 pm. Paddle registration includes one ticket to the party. Additional party tickets are available for purchase for $50 each.
REFUND POLICY: Due to the nature and complexity of this event, there will be no refunds, including if event is cancelled due to weather or it is modified at the discretion of event organizers to maintain the safety of all participants. If you are unable to attend and notify us no later than July 2, your registration may be transferred to a future year's parade.
